Hot Wax Surf Shop is a Wilmington legend and mainstay. With over 5,000 square feet of floor space, Hot Wax Surf Ship is Wilmington’s largest surf shop. What makes Hot Wax unique is that it includes a surfboard shaping room where the store hosts a surfboard shaping school and lessons as a service, so you can create your own surfboard. Hotwax has one of the largest collections of surfboards for sale ranging from long boards to shortboards, even foam tops.
The surf shop was established in 1986 by Michael Paul. Michael’s brother Greg runs the Hot Wax Surf Shop in Atlantic Beach, NC. Michael got his start in the surf business on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii where he worked with master craftsman Ed Barbera in 1980 at the Country Surfboards factory in Sunset Beach on the North Shore. Michael shapes boards today under the label, Proline Surfboards.

Moved into town and was looking for a great surf rack to take my surfboards to the beach. Stopped by Hot Wax and they hooked me up! Great shop, nice and friendly staff.
